Shapes Around Our School
One of our Junior Kindergarten classes went around our school with a digital camera and took pictures of various shapes. The teacher and I uploaded the pictures to iphoto, turned them in to a slideshow in iphoto and added music. Finally, we exported them as a Quick Time movie and uploaded the Quick Time to Vimeo.com
We also tried uploading the Quicktime to a voicethread, but the video was blurry, so we suggest vimeo for this project.

Weekly Skype with Kindergarten
One of our Kindergarten classes will Skype every Thursday this school year with a Kindergarten class in Houston, Texas. The Skype will generally last 10 minutes. The children enjoy sharing about their week and asking each other various questions. Below is a Vimeo of one of the Skype sessions from last week. Enjoy!
Towards the end you will notice a little bit of technical difficulty. Part of working with technology is understanding that you will encounter set-backs at times just like with anything else. All-together, this was only their second Skype session and it went great!

Change of plans
I'm not going to post the Vimeo of the introductions to ipods to the Pre-K teachers. I think it will be more informative to you all if I post a video of the children actually using them for the first time. The Pre-K teachers are all very excited to get these into the hands of the children. I think we will all be surprised about how much they already know. So many of them already play with their mom or dad's iphone at home. These ipods will strengthen their fine motor skills and expose them to more technology that is used in the world around them.

Introduction to ipods with our students
Today, I observed our Lower School Technology Coach use the ipods for the first time with a third grade classroom. The boys loved it and already knew so much about the ipod. Our school purchased an ipod cart this year and we will be using it with all grades Pre-K through sixth grade. Tomorrow, we are going to introduce the ipod cart to the Pre-K teachers. I am hoping to use my flip camera and record the introduction to them. I will post it as a vimeo on the blog so be looking for it. As soon as I figure out all the apps we might use for the Early Childhood students on the ipods I'll be sure to post a list of them for you to check out.
